COACHING - System & Philosophy

The Cobra Fencing Club is fondly dedicated to the memory of Csaba Elthes, widely regarded as one of the foremost fencing masters of the 20th century. Csaba emigrated to the U.S.from his native Hungary in 1957 and brought with him a coaching system directly linked to the time tested Hungarian method which produced many Olympic and world champions.

Csaba 's insistence on the proper execution and coordination of hand and foot technique, subtle rhythm change and tactical distance management are hallmarks of the Hungarian system. Csaba constantly challenged his pupils ' athletic ability, intellect and desire. He produced many world class fencers and was the U.S.Olympic team coach from 1964 to 1984.

All three of the Cobra Fencing Club coaches were pupils of Csaba and are teaching the Hungarian method. They strive tirelessly to live up to Csaba 's high standard.
